IT Field service technician
The role
The IT Field service Technician shall be the extension of the IT Coordinator regarding IT functions ensuring the business partner satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- You will adhere to all security and Sandvik standards on equipment being connected to the LAN
- You are responsible to assist the helpdesk in fielding phone calls and queries
- You will install SNC in compliance with Sandvik standards and SLA’s
- You are responsible for the general cleanliness and safe working environment of the workshop.
- You are responsible for the security of all equipment that is in the workshop
- You are expected to make use of the GSS IT Knowledgebase database to assist with all calls.
- You are responsible in conjunction with the helpdesk to account for all incidents and orders assigned to you.
- You are to ensure that all you correctly, diligently and timelessly enter all work performed into the call logging system
- Monitoring Incident details, including the Configuration Items affected
- Incident investigation and diagnosis including resolution where possible
- Detection of possible Problems and the assignment of them to the Problem Management team for them to raise Problem records
- The resolution and recovery of assigned Incidents
- Ownership, monitoring, tracking and communication
- Monitoring the status and progress towards resolution of all open Incidents
- Keeping affected end users informed about progress escalating the progress if necessary
- Should you go on planned leave, any outstanding issues and plans need to be handed over to a designated person appointed by the IT coordinator.
- You are expected to assist with Backups. You are to ensure that you are at a proficient level to support and run backups and restores in compliance with the Backup Procedure
- You are expected to be proficient enough in the Backups to carry out the daily task list
- You are expected to continually learn and become proficient in as many supporting systems as possible, highlighting to management any training or direction that you may need.
- You may need to occasionally work overtime to comply with SLA’s or to ensure critical business continuity.
- You will be expected to carry and transport equipment.
- You are to assist in documenting and updating all procedures carried out by the workshop
- You are required to work in a team environment sharing knowledge and responsibilities
- You are expected to travel whenever necessary
- Report any needs for local IT services to the IT coordinator
- Note all demands from the BA and escalate to the IT coordinator
- Assist the delivery of Global IT services
Your profile
- Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience of working within various aspects of IT. Should have a High School Qualification. Should have good organisation skills. Be able to work effectively in Global teams and communicate effectively with Management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as the willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
