Summary of Position
Since 2011, SFCG in Tanzania is working to develop Sustainable Business Practice (SBP) in the extractive industry sector. SFCG is currently seeking to recruit a Field Coordinator to coordinate day-to-day implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities in Mara Region. S/he will work closely with the SBP Program Manager and the Country Director, to ensure a smooth planning, implementation and monitoring of all project activities, liaising with relevant partners and key stakeholders in Mara Region lead training workshops as well as ensure the collection of monitoring data and preparation of reports. Based in Mara Region the Field Coordinator will report to the SBP Program Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project’s training component, including the development of training curricula and the facilitation of training workshop to strengthen the conflict resolution and leadership capacities of the project’s beneficiaries, including communities and the police.
  • Ensure a strong participation of local stakeholders in the project activities. In particular, ensure a strong engagement of communities to support their development.
  • Conduct regular field visits, attending different project activities to ensure their quality, and communicating with the communities in order to create trust among the different stakeholders in the project. Develop and maintain updated work plans for SBP project activities in Mara Region and oversee the effective implementations of planned activities to the highest results and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure an effective monitoring and evaluation of the project’s activities in Mara Region working with the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DM&E) Officer to ensure that appropriate monitoring systems and tools are in place, data effectively collected, analyzed and shared with the team with a view to ensure both progress towards the project’s objectives and institutional learning.
  • Ensure that SBP program staffs actively contribute to, understand and effectively use the project’s M&E plan to document progresses towards the projects’ (un-)intended results.
  • Prepare and file activity and monthly reports for the project, including quality photos, and assist the SBP Program Manager in the preparation of periodical reports for the donor, in compliance with SFCG and donor requirements.
  • Communicate on a weekly basis with the SBP Program Manager, updating him on the project activities, challenges encountered and programming needs.
  •  Lead the communication and visibility aspects of the SBP project activities in Mara Region by providing written material, photos, success stories to the SBP Program Manager to share through the website, social media and traditional media. 
  • Prepare on monthly basis the activity projects and activity budgets with the collaboration of the Program and the Financial Manager Ensure that staff advances are justified in a timely manner, and that financial documentation for the project’s activities is compliant with SFCG’s administrative and financial policies and procedures. 
  • Supervise the Community Outreach Assistant based in Mara Region and work in collaboration with other SFCG staffs in Dar Es Salaam as well as the Regional Team and HQ. 
  • Represent SFCG in meetings with key stakeholders in Mara Region and share relevant notes with the SBP Program Manager and Country Director 
  • Assist the SBP Program Manager with other tasks as needed.
  • As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, conflict resolution, project management or related field.
  • At least four (4) years of INGO or CSO experience in project implementation and/or design, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Knowledge and previous experience in design, monitoring and evaluation (DM&E).
  • Strong training skills.
  • Proven ability in report writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as social media platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision.
  • Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
  • Written and oral proficiency in English and Swahili.
  • Willingness to travel to be based in Mara Region and travel to remote areas.



Duration: 12 month contract with possibility of renewal.
