SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania is a local non-government organization affiliated to SOS Children’s Villages International, a worldwide child care organization that provides orphaned and destitute children with a permanent home and educational opportunities. Established 60 years ago, SOS Children’s Villages International the umbrella organization, currently has Children’s Villages and other projects in 135 countries around the world.
Globally, it runs the SOS Children’s Village Programme which has two main arms, i.e. Family Based Care based at SOS Children’s Villages and Family Strengthening Programmes supporting families in local communities. SOS has been working in the United Republic of Tanzania since 1991, and implements its programs in the following locations Zanzibar, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Iringa. SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania seeks to recruit suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant Positions.
Job title: Program Officer (1 post)
Duty station: SOS Children’s Villages Arusha
Reporting to: Family Strengthening Program Coordinator
Roles & Responsibilities
Facilitate families and communities in identifying existing gaps in childcare, child protection, child rights and family livelihood;
Facilitate families and communities to develop interventions to address gaps in childcare, child rights and family economic empowerment;
Facilitate capacity building to families and communities to enable them to respond to the needs of the MVCs;
Facilitate mapping of community structures and systems for supporting child focused interventions;
Facilitate the timely implementation of the programme plans from the approved annual plans and budgets;
Develop and put to use M&E framework and data collection tools for project activities;
Facilitate development and tracking of family development plans;
Ensure that children participating in Family Strengthening Program have their life vision documented and supported to realize their visions
Academic Qualifications and Work Experience.
Bachelor degree in Social Work, Community Development and/or Sociology;
At least two years working experience preferably with NGO;
Facilitation and project management skills;
Good interpersonal and presentation skills;
Good report writing skills;
Proactive with good problem solving skills;
Experience in gender and child rights advocacy;
Ability to work with minimum supervision;
Good computer skills especially MS Excel;
Good command of both oral and written English and Kiswahili.
Job title: Assistant Accountant
Duty station: SOS Children’s Village (Mwanza (1), Dar es Salaam (1), & Mufindi (1) post)
Reporting to: Program Accountant
Roles & Responsibilities
Prepares payment vouchers (bank and cash), cheque and petty cash payments.
Posts all payments to the appropriate register in accounting software i.e. Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Maintains all necessary supporting documentation.
Maintains local currency petty cash floats and ensures these are adequately funded at all times.
Banks all income received and effects all cash withdrawals.
Maintains a Donations Register and ensures that all donations received are properly accounted for.
Administers the payroll and prepares salary cheque. Ensures that the facilities are run as economically as possible, in accordance with the
provisions of the annual budget.
Maintains a computerized fixed asset register and ensures this is updated regularly.
Ensures that all invoices are paid promptly in order to protect the reputation of SOS.
Assists where required in developing or improving financial or administration procedures.
Maintains records and a proper filing system.
Performs any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor from time to time.
Academic Qualification and Experiences.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy / Finance from recognized university
Prior experience in accounting, budgeting, financial controlling, internal audit, accounting software.
Fluency in English (both written and spoken).
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
At least 1 year experience in the field of Accounts and Finance (preferably with an NGO).
Knowledge on Accounting package system, Microsoft Dynamics NAV will be added advantage
Job title: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (2 posts)
Duty station: Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: M&E Advisor
Responsible for Programme Monitoring & Evaluation of activities (processes and outputs);
Conduct routine monitoring of program activities;
Ensure tracking and reporting of child protection related issues;
Responsible for capturing and inputting data into program database;
Undertake initial analysis of data for report writing;
Prepare and submit monitoring feedback reports;
Participate in baseline studies, feasibility studies and needs assessment;
Documenting success stories from the programs;
Ensure compliance to M&E framework and tools by program locations.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities.
Graduate in Social Sciences, economics, Statistics and/or Development studies;
Experience in M&E field;
Knowledge of logical framework and result based management;
Good communication and interpersonal skills;
Computer literacy especially competency in MS Excel;
Analytical skill with good presentation skills.
Job title: Partnership and Funding development Officer
Duty station: SOS Children’s Village Mwanza - (1 post)
Reporting to: Fundraising Development Coordinator
Roles & Responsibilities.
Identify and secure funding from internal & Local sponsors / foundations
Assist the Project Manager in the development and implementation of fund development strategy within SOS Children’s Village Mwanza.
Prepare and submit the proposals for acquisition of the grants/funds within required standards/ frames
Maintain communications with the public, media & private sector for SOS Children’s Villages resource mobilization.
Academic Qualification, skills & Experiences:
A Bachelor degree on Project Management / Development studies or any related fields from recognized university
Strong background in proposal development and donor negotiation skills with good track record of awarded proposals
Previous proven professional fundraising skills and experience for NGOs, CSOs, public or private sector
Two years’ experience of government donor relations and knowledge of funding requirements, particularly with donor agencies
Excellent ability to work cross-organizationally with multiple stakeholders in realization of shared goals
Able to share passion for and knowledge of donor engagement and grant acquisition strategies and techniques through training and/or
mentoring
Proactive, inquisitive and determined in identifying and pursuing new grant funding opportunities.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and public relations skills.
