LEGAL DATA OFFICER – WWF TANZANIA

WWF Tanzania is the international conservations organizations in alliance with TRAFFIC the international wildlife trade monitoring network is seeking a competent and motivated legal data officer to implent its projects known as JUICIAL MONITORING & CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECT the incumbent will be based in Dar es Salaam Tanzania

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the TRAFFIC Head of the Office – East Africa Legal Officer will be responsible to monitor wild life crime hearings resident magistrate court Dar es Salaam input informations on these cases and wild life crime including seizures and prosecution into TRAFFIC database and provide information’s on environmental laws and regulations especially as pertains to the wildlife Conservation Act

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Attend and report on the legal proceeding and outcomes of wildlife crime cases at kisulu resident magistrate court In dare s salaam
  • In collaboration with partners and with TRAFFIC Research and analysis programmed officer undertake training in 2 data management and develop tools for wildlife crime court case monitoring
  • Be responsible for accurately in putting detailed information on wildlife crime especially seizures and prosecution into TRAFFIC information’s system
  • Attend and provide logistic and technical assistance to judiciary trainings on wildlife crime
  • Undertaken research and provide timely advice on wildlife laws and regulations
  • Compile reports briefing papers and other communication pertaining to wildlife law and crime


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


  • A bachelor degree of laws  from recognized university
  • Minimum 3 years working experience preferably in the field of law
  • Excellent knowledge of Ms World Excel and intern search
  • Knowledge of  data base software an advantage
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience of data entry an advantage
  • Professional attitude and excellent team approach
  • Excellent knowledge and use of English and Swahili language
  • Interest in wildlife conservations
