The School of St Jude is a 100% charity-funded education institution that provides free, high-quality primary and secondary scholarships to 1,800 of the poorest and brightest students in the Tanzanian region of Arusha.

We are seeking a creative, energetic Marketing Expert to be based in Arusha, Tanzania at The School of St Jude.

Objective To develop and maintain effective marketing strategies that create and nurture opportunities with existing and potential sponsors and donors.

Responsible For Marketing Coordinator, Online Marketing Coordinator, two Communications Officers, Graphic Designer, Australian Events Coordinator, two photographers/videographers

Key Responsibilities Planning

Manage, support and direct the marketing team in their roles
Devise and develop the brand management strategy including an editorial strategy and an annual marketing and communication strategy for online marketing and traditional communication channels.
Devise implementation plans for regular and feature marketing campaigns such as appeals and special events.
Conduct market segmentation research and analysis to ensure a comprehensive understanding of current and potential target markets.
Implementation

Manage the production and distribution of the school’s monthly newsletter.
Devise and manage feature marketing campaigns and the production of associated collateral.
Manage the production of annual reports and other governance reports as directed by the Communications Manager and Founder.
Write a wide variety of communications for print, TV, radio and online channels.
Manage and maintain the St Jude’s website to ensure currency of content, functional optimisation and
Manage marketing distribution lists to ensure data is accurate and up- to-date.
Ensure consistent application of the school’s Branding Guidelines and Style Guide by business and school administration teams, funding boards, fundraising supporters and other external stakeholders.
Develop and maintain marketing and fundraising resources and branded collateral such as presentations, fundraising and event hosting kits.
Provide marketing support to other departments such as Human Resources, Visitors and Community Relations, Sponsor Relations, Supporter Relations, Donor Relations and Beyond St Jude’s.
Participate in and support fellow staff in school mission related activities such as school celebration days and graduation events.
Liaise with the Australian Events Coordinator regarding promotional tours, fundraising and speaking events in Australia.
Develop and maintain processes and procedures for the effective operation of the department.
Problem solve issues arising with marketing and communications activities and develop and implement solutions in a timely manner.
Manage team training and development including:
Ensuring sufficient staff trained to cover roles during absences
Identifying training needs and actively encouraging Western and Tanzanian staff to develop their skills and levels of responsibility
Facilitating problem solving and collaboration within the team
Conducting weekly team meetings
Conducting staff appraisals.
Monitoring

Generate monthly and quarterly management reports including outputs and outcomes in line with department KPIs.
Attend and contribute to Business Strategy and Business Group meetings and action any relevant outcomes
Monitor, review and update sponsor relations processes and procedures annually.
Continuous Improvement

Keep updated with current marketing and fundraising trends that may positively influence marketing practice.
In collaboration with business office managers and department heads implement agreed improvements and modifications to marketing activities.
Other

Participate in and supply team members to support the Student Selection process.
Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Degree in Marketing or relevant experience
Experience in managing a team
Experience in fundraising campaigns
Experience in database applications
Excellent communication and networking skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Demonstrated initiative and common sense
