Position: School Nurse
Duty Station: Usa - River Arusha, Tanzania
The School of St Jude is a 100% charity-funded education institution that provides free, high-quality primary and secondary scholarships to 1,800 of the poorest and brightest students in the Tanzanian region of Arusha.
We are looking to appoint a School Nurse who is passionate about working with students and has a strong interest in NGOs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide medical attention to any member of schools Students and staff.
• Provides care for injuries and acute illness for all students and long-term management of students with special health care needs.
• To do screening and referral for health conditions
• Prepare and maintain student clinic records and prepare required reports
• Conducts home visits when appropriate.
• The employee shall serve the school during work hours and shall not leave the premises without oral/written permission form from the line manager.
• The employee may be required to work after hours and on weekends at extracurricular work in connection with sports, exhibitions, seminars, parents, etc. even during the school vacation.
• Devote time and attention to this service unless called on to assist in other areas that are decided on by the assistant deputy-school values and welfare. However, health care is the primary concern.
• To undertake any other duties as shall be assigned by your manager.
• Allowances related to the employee performing any school-related duties away from the school are made at the discretion of the employer.
Other Duties:
• Participate and support fellow staff in school mission related activities such as all School Celebration Days throughout the year.
• Participate in student selection process, in particular working after hours on rest days and public holidays up to 20 Saturdays per annum.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by Head of Department and Manager.
Qualification, Skills and Competence:
• A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Two years’ work experience
• Must be a registered or enrolled Nurse
• Problem solving
• Attention to detail
• Quick response to emergencies.
• Excellent written and verbal English and Kiswahili skills
• Must demonstrate a high level of Confidentiality, integrity and professionalism
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
