URC seeks qualified COP candidates to support the anticipated USAID-funded Tanzania Multi-sectoral Nutrition (MSN) activity. The purpose of the Tanzania Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Activity is to intensify and integrate nutrition support to targeted regions to improve the nutritional status of women of reproductive age, especially pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, and children under five. The project will achieve this through a) Strengthened multi-sectoral coordination for improved nutrition at the local government level; b) Improved health, nutrition, caregiving, and WASH behaviors; and c) Increased access and availability of diverse, safe, and nutritious foods.

Roles and Responsibilities

The COP will be the principal point of contact in Tanzania for procedural and substantive matters. The COP will coordinate and ultimately be responsible for results under this activity. The COP will be the primary liaison with USAID/Tanzania and the Government of Tanzania on technical matters. The COP will be responsible for responding to the AOR and USAID/Tanzania's Agreement Officer. The COP will also be responsible for ensuring quality control and the overall responsiveness of TA provided under the Cooperative Agreement. In addition, the COP will:

Provide overall strategic direction for the project, ensuring a strong local governance strengthening approach that supports multi-sectoral nutrition service delivery at district levels
Effectively leverage market-driven solutions for promoting dietary diversity (including access to animal source foods) and addressing micronutrient deficiencies
Lead project engagement with key national stakeholder bodies and other implementation mechanisms to ensure cross-learning, and to foster joint planning

Qualifications

Advanced degree in health, economics, public administration, social sciences or related field
Minimum of 10 years' experience with progressively more responsible leadership roles on large donor-funded projects; experience with USAID required; prior DCOP or COP experience preferred
Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and implementing large international development projects; experience with local governance strengthening or with scaling up nutrition preferred
Demonstrated experience working in partnership with host governments, international donors, and implementing partners
Excellent communication skills and strong inter-personal and supervisory skills, including the demonstrated ability to lead teams of technical specialists
Ability to work independently and with team members and partners at all levels
Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan strategically
Strong work experience with local and international partners in Tanzania, including both private and public partners
Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in Swahili a plus
