Background

The Inclusive Business in Sunflower Value Chain project is a 2.5 year programme funded by AMDT. The aim is to increase the sustainable income and employment of productive poor men, women and youth through increased access to services, markets and inputs enabled by structural and behavioural change triggered among the actors in the sunflower market system

Job Description

The Market Linkages and Agri-Inputs Officer will be in charge of facilitating the development of business relationships between S/M processors and off takers in the Hybrid Sunflower market. She/he will be responsible for development of S/M Processors (make them investment ready) together with responsible business partners for BDS and linking them with financial institutions. She/he will take the lead in facilitating inclusive business arrangements between Sunflower PGs and buyers and be responsible for developing the business and market capacity of PGs, through relevant market actors. She/he will coordinate inputs supply chains and managing extension services delivery systems by working with the identified inputs market actors such as YARA, ByTrade and LSSC. She/he will broker relationships among various market actors including Inputs suppliers/agro dealers and help them to tap opportunities available for investing with SHFs in hybrid sunflower production.

Identifying incentives for increasing Hybrid Sunflower grains business development, document the business models and other experiences for purposes of scaling up and replicating what works in various contexts.
Initiating and developing strong market actor linkages; between traders / processors / exporter and producer organizations;
Developing and maintaining a database of key market actors that can be used to develop the sunflower market in Songwe, Rukwa and Katavi regions.
Continuously monitor market trends and the market system to support decision making.
Liaising with key regulatory bodies, Regional Authorities, Local Government Authorities and support services providers to enhance effectiveness of the proposed interventions to stimulate and sustain sunflower market system.
Brokering market linkages between Hybrid Sunflower producer groups, aggregators, AMCOs, off takers and other market actors to enhance partnership and collaborations on identified sunflower market opportunities.

Facilitating Inclusive Business relationships and moderation processes between Hybrid sunflower producer groups and buyers/ processors.
Preparing and filling reports; implementation activities reports and periodic project narrative reports.

Qualifications

An MBA in marketing, MSc in Agribusiness, M.A Rural development or equivalent.
At least 5 years of work experience in agricultural marketing including at least 3 years in an Agriculture marketing position.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Agriculture sector, particularly participation of Smallholders farmers in the crops production and marketing.
Experience working with diverse stakeholders including Government institutions and agencies at National, Regional and Local levels; private sector, Agri inputs suppliers, research institutions, Donors and Producers/Market Associations.
Practical knowledge on Market Analysis and Value Chain / Markets Systems Development
Demonstrated experience on preparing documentation and reporting

Additional Information

This is a full-time national role with a contract of 2.5 years renewable. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a competitive secondary benefit package.
