Roles and Responsibilities
Communications Strategic Plan

  • Ensure effective corporate communication in order to build and maintain the brand, reputation and positive image of the organization in the communities we work in, the country, region and beyond
  • Support to build and/or maintain a positive image of the Organization for grants portfolio
  • Ability to implement a Communications Strategy / Plan and Budget for the Organization and/or Project 


Enhancement of Communications

  • Work with Program/Project leads to engage communities in message development and pre-testing of Program Communications to ensure the right messages are communicated appropriately to the right target group
  • Compile, document and regularly share updated Program and Project information with key and relevant stakeholders on various platforms
  • Conduct and support regular field visits to document project activities
  • Prepare, write or facilitate analytical features, news and articles media and other related news sharing platforms
  • Provide support to draft Press Releases and prepare Media Kits and event/Media Reports as guided by Head of Communications and Advocacy
  • Support the Country Management Team and Crisis Management Team during PR crises
  • Apply protocol in representing organization officially and socially
  • Collaborate with development partners and officials appropriately in carrying out shared public relations dutiesCoordinate visits of local and international media/special guest field visits with support from Sponsorship and Program Unit Managers and relevant program team and Country Management Team.
  • Provide support in the compilation and development of publications and other related materials
  • Develop newsletters and Weekly Highlight to keep internal and external regularly updated

o Publish content on the Web Pages
• Maintain Country Office Information Resource Centre

  • Compile appropriate reports, data from various sources related to organization’s work

Child Protection and Risk Management
1. Ensures that organization’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and organization International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

  • Maintain a range of working relationships, including with government counterparts, donors, implementing partners and other development organizations
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively work well with others within the country, at Regional and International level 


Educational Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Behaviour Change Communication, Journalism or its equivalent in a communications related discipline
  • Has not less than 3 – 4 years working experience in a Communications/PR or journalism role preferably in an international development and humanitarian Organization
