Reporting Line: Safety Coordinator
Work Station: Biharamulo Mine Site
Contract Duration: 15 Months, Subject to Renewal
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Interact with the entire Mine site, to ensure sustained development of a Safe and
Healthy Work Environment to ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance
with Stamigold policies, especially in the cultural, safety and environmental context & all project consent & legislative requirements.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits
- Assist in incident investigations.
- Assist in development and revision of standards, procedures or checklists.
- Record daily, weekly & monthly statistics.
- Monitor and follow up on incident investigation recommendations to ensure actions
- are completed & implemented.
- Provide on-the-job coaching of employees on FlRA and other appropriate
- methods
- Assisting with facilitation of formal risk assessments.
- Provide support and guidance to Safety Representatives
- Ensure compliance with relevant Tanzanian EHS regulations and corporate codes of practice .
- Actively support and participate in safety initiatives or training as required.
- Provide feedback on all findings to training safety officers in order to adjust training
- programmers and to address performance problems
- Apply STAMIGOLD safety standards to all contractors/contracting companies
- Actively participate and monitor safety representative achievements
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary Education qualification
- Safety qualification commensurate with OSHA and/or any other professional body qualifications.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Safety, with at least 5 years' experience in
- Safety Management preferably in the Mining Industry.
- Proven ability to set up Safety and ERT management programs for a mining project
- Proven ability to manage Safety Programs in the mining and mineral processing environment
- Decisiveness, Resilience and Resourcefulness with high degree of confidentiality
- Sound knowledge of minimum safety regulations and best practice
- A good verbal communication skills and good command of Swahili and English
- Strong and proven management ability with leadership qualities are essential
- High level of interpersonal and influencing skills
- Must be a team player, Flexible, Attentive to details(good listener) and result oriented
- Demonstrated track record of integrity and honesty
- A working knowledge of appropriate software proqrams that will facilitate the reporting. These include Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Access or other
- database software
