Job Description

PowerGen Renewable Energy is a micro-grid developer, implementer, and operator in East Africa, reshaping the prevailing rural electrification model in the region. PowerGen is creating an African energy system that utilizes clean, renewable energy and smarter grids to deliver power to all.

As Project Coordination Lead, you will drive a team and process at the heart of our business: coordinating our Executional Teams to ensure delivery of micro-grid assets up to PowerGen standards. You will work across the organization to ensure efficiency at every level of the implementation process. Ultimately, you are responsible for ensuring that projects are installed on-time, up to quality standards, and within budget.

As Project Coordination Lead, you work with the Executional Teams (Customers & Sites, Power Assets, Installations, and Workshop) to ensure successful delivery of projects:

As Project Coordination Lead, you would manage the interactions among these teams. A standardized set of inter-team interfaces have been established, which include the following set of documents:

1. Site Social Survey (C&S)
2. Site Engineering Survey (C&S)
3. Full BOM (Power Assets)
4. Workshop BOM (Workshop)
5. BOM Manuals and QA (Workshop)
6. Distribution Drawings (Power Assets)
7. Power Drawings (Power Assets)
8. Completion Report (Installation)
9. As-Built BOM (Installation)
10. As-Built Drawings (Installation)
11. Connected Customer List (Installation)

As Project Coordination Lead you may from time to time be assigned on large, discrete projects which also require outside subcontractors and additional project implementation resources. In such cases, you would work to embed these project processes within the existing core executional team process.

As Project Coordination Lead you will report to a VP of Project Coordination, or the CEO if that position is not filled.

- Have oversight over Executional Teams deliverables and interactions to ensure timely and within-budget delivery of high quality projects

- Proactively identify and implement ways to improve inter-team communication and process

- Develop and deploy resource tracking systems for measuring project implementation efficiency

- Ultimately ensure that the “clients” are happy, including: commercial partners, financial partners (those who finance the micro-grid projects), and our ultimate end-users of power

- Develop and deliver reports for management to provide visibility into the project implementation process

- Help to identify resource constraints among the Executional Teams and support with development of plans to improve them

- Dive into the process of individual Executional Teams as an internal “consultant” to improve their performance
