BACKGROUND
PHSRF is a registered non- profit organization that design and implement public health interventions focusing on saving lives of women and children in Tanzania by empowering community from within and supporting them to put knowledge into practice. Our major areas of concentration include HIV, MNCH, SRH, Non communicable diseases and economic empowerment interventions for marginalized population groups.
Sauti project is a 5-years project funded by the USAID). It is implemented by Jhpiego in partnership with EngenderHealth, PACT and NIMR. The project supports and advances implementation of PEPFFAR by providing a package of core services to key and vulnerable population (KVP) in support of the government of the United Republic of Tanzania’s commitment to HIV prevention. PHSRF is a sub grantee of Jhpiego. Under this sub-award PHSRF implement the Sauti project in Kinondoni.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The BCC officer leads the informal and curriculum-based Behavior Change Communication (BCCC) education to the target population and community mobilization by the Peer Educators (PE); this post should supervise the PE, conduct weekly meetings with them to asses performance, review data report and provide guidance, roll out BCC training to PE; 1 BCC officer should be sufficient to supervise up to 50 PE;BCC Reports to program manager.



Duties and responsibilities

To support the demand creation by PEs that will act as demand creation agents for CBHTC+ services in selected wards in Kinondoni.
Develop a weekly/monthly technical report and discuss the implementation challenges faced during the implementation, develop monthly plans, needs and targets using the dedicated template
To promote and work l work closely with the CBHTC+ Community Health Promoters (CHP) to promote and create demand for CBHTC+ services, support (and escort if desired by beneficiary) beneficiaries to attend services.
To work with PEs and other SAUTI staff and by working with PEs and provide support to Sauti CBHTC+ CHPs and peer navigators to link those who have tested HIV+ to care and treatment services and other services available through other partners using Sauti-provided M&E tools to confirm the linkage.
To support the PEs, work with Sauti CBHTC+ CHPs and peer navigators to link individuals who are survivors of GBV (particularly active cases) to the police desk, identified health facilities and other services as necessary.
To provide technical support for demand creation by PEs and implement other venue-based outreach activities in bars, brothels, guest houses, markets, ports, etc. with the purpose of promoting CBHTC+ services, other available services (e.g. support groups and drop in center services).
To review the PEs data and reports from community and provide guidance for program
Roll out BCC training to PEs
To collaborate with other SAUTI partners to implement the SAUTI program
To represent PHSRF in various meetings and forums
Any other related jobs as assigned by supervisor

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
a) Advanced diploma or Degree in medicine, Nursing, community development, sociology, Health systems management or related subject.
b) Master’s degree in relevant field will be an added advantage
c) At least 1 years’ of relevant working experience in NGO specifically in Social Behavior Communication Change & Demand Creation Community Base HIV Testing and Counseling
d) In depth knowledge and experience on Key and Vulnerable population comprehensive HIV prevention
e) Good communication skills
