Scope of the Position:
The project Manager will technically assist in the planning, organization, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the overall program activities in the field Office. He/she will oversee the field office and provide overall supervision to all project staff. The project manager will report to the Deputy Country Representative and Head of Programs on the general implementation of the project and to senior technical advisor for Clinical Services on day to day technical issues of the project.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and programmatic support to the overall project activities, while ensuring compliance with donor and organization requirements in the regions.
- Oversee activity implementation of the project activities according to the approved work plan and budget
- Oversee the project financial management in the regions with adherence to internal control
- Act as the link between Engenderhealth and other implementing partners in the Regions such as Marie stopes, PSI, the region, districts etc.
- Liaise with other stakeholders from government, and community leaders and other implementing partners to identify their technical assistance needs related to FP/PAC and participate in coordinating their respective activities with the project.
- Assist in the project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Participate in the preparation of annual work plan, budgets, quarter and annual progress reports.
- Actively Participate in relevant technical meetings with counterparts, donors, region, districts and other partners.
- Facilitate training in selected reproductive health components, as necessary.
- Ensure effective implementation of project activities by conducting supervisory field visits as required
- Ensure effective communication between the field office and Dar es Salaam office
- Undertakes special assignments as deemed by his supervision authorities
- Perform any other duty assigned by his/her supervisor.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Proven capacity to direct, develop, manage and inspire a multidisciplinary and professional team in the field office
- Demonstrate experience working collegially with other technical staff, experts and staff from public and private /NGO sector.
- Intimate knowledge, understanding and experience of the Ministry of Health structures and systems in Tanzania.
- Demonstrated experience in working and collaborating with donor funded organization .
- Ability to prioritize amongst competing demands and working with minimal supervision and organizing in a strict deadline environment.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with Government of Tanzania officials and local and international organizations working in health sector.
- Ability to organize information and tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, pay attention to details, and handle a variety of responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer skills and fluent in both English and Swahili.
- Be prepared to travel in support of Project activities
Key Qualifications
- A candidate should have relevant public health and management expertise
- Technical knowledge on reproductive health, family planning, comprehensive post abortion care and related projects
- At least 5 years of experience at a management position with budget and supervisory responsibilities in a donor funded Project
- Experience in implementing PAC and FP projects consisting of training and supportive supervision of providers
