WHO WE ARE 
SCHULBANK is a German-Tanzanian NGO founded in 2013. In cooperation with high-quality educational institutions from primary school to university, we run a scholarship program for orphans and children of very poor families. In addition to the financial support, we accompany the scholarship holders on their educational path to their entry into the profession.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Learning Mentor, you are the companion of children and adolescents in our scholarship program. You have a personal relationship with every scholar, you know the family environment and you are in constant communication with their teachers. You maintain the school results in our monitoring system and analyze the educational development of your mentees. Together with guardians and teachers, you develop individual educational pathways and propose measures to support strong and weak students.

Together with your Tanzanian and German colleagues you develop the structures and processes of your mentoring program and contribute to an optimal learning environment.

monitoring and analysing of schools results
making home visits to talk to parents about issues and to offer advice about strategies to deal with problems
joining parents days and meeting teachers to discuss scholars performance
supporting pupils inside and outside of the classroom
agreeing and writing action plans
manage the tutoring program
aiding pupils with the transition to secondary education
helping pupils to increase their confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies
give SCHULBANK a face and organize joint leisure activities

Qualified pedagogue or worked educationally in the educational environment

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

University degree in teaching
Fluency in written and spoken Kiswahili and English
Familiar in using Word, Excel or PowerPoint
